We are fully back at it this week! Thank you so much for you patience with our computer issues last week. Today we get to meet Swede Farm Dairy, our lovely goat dairy vendor at the market!
For this week’s “Market Monday”, I want to focus on some long time friends of ours. They also just so happen to be the market managers of our farmers market. Everyone needs some sweet baby goats, so come meet Swede Farm Dairy!
Swede Farm Dairy is a goat dairy producing both goat milk and cheese available exclusively at our market. Their family moved out of Houston to the country to provide a better life for their kids. They wanted to produce great quality dairy, but with cows being very expensive and many people having allergies to cow milk, they decided to jump into a goat dairy.
They have had several iterations over the years with the many ups and downs that frequently come with farming, but they have stayed resolute though with their goal of provide great quality goat milk products for their extremely loyal clientele. It’s not an easy thing to find quality goat milk! Good goat milk is difficult or impossible to find in chain stores, and even local producers are few and far between, so our market is lucky to have such a great product! Some people are able to consume goat milk when they cannot consume cow milk due to the casein protean structure, so goat milk is a great alternative. If you’re unsure, come give their products a try to see if they are a good fit for your body. Goat milk is also higher in most nutrients (calcium, vitamin d, good fat, etc) than cow milk, so it is a wonderful option for giving to young kids or anyone looking for nutrient dense foods.
If you are in the Houston area I highly recommend you check out Swede Farm Dairy for some delicious goat milk and cheese! They sell drinkable yogurt (probiotics anyone?!), several types of cheese including the tomato-basil you see below, and they even have baby goats to pet for the next few weeks! They also make goat cheese chocolate truffles around Christmas time, so be sure to keep those in mind!
Make it a tasty day,
P.S. Check out our last “Market Monday” here 🙂
